Dita Eyewear is the brainchild of life-long friends Jeff Solorio and John Jupiter. They both had a passion for photography and design and were inspired to take this passion to a new level , thus producing the first collection of Dita Sunglasses in 1996. Striving to be seen as a high end alternative to branded eyewear, Dita Eyewear stands out for its quality, look and fit. Jeff and John believe that Dita Eyewear should enhance the wearer’s image not dominate it, so the logo is intentionally subtle. Hand made in Japan, only the highest quality materials are used in the production of Dita Eyewear: Titanium, 18K gold, white gold and Japanese zyl. Using these modern materials, designs inspired by vintage frames from the 50's through to the 80's give Dita Eyewear that timeless feel you can only get from true craftsmanship.

In 2007, the first Dita Optical collection was launched, employing the same attention to detail and high standards as with the Dita Sunglasses. Again, Dita Eyewear stretched the boundaries of traditional rivet frame construction by using exclusively developed Japanese zyls and designing custom titanium components including a unique hex screw. Production of Dita Eyewear is led by Tommy O’Gara in Tokyo; each Dita Eyewear frame is built to his exacting standards before being shipped back to Los Angeles and tested in the studio, ensuring the highest quality frame possible reaches the customer. Dita Eyewear takes great pride in its exclusivity, choosing not to undertake lucrative celebrity endorsements and high profile advertising campaigns in favour of allowing the quality and craftsmanship to speak for themselves. This ensures anyone can wear Dita Eyewear for its true purpose; substance and style in perfect harmony.

Inspite of, or perhaps because of this exclusivity, both Dita Sunglasses and Dita Optical Eyewear have built up quite a large following among celebrities and members of the public alike, including Brad Pitt, Penelope Cruz, Lenny Kravitz and Kate Hudson. Dita has now branched out and opened three retail stores under the name Dita Legends. These concept stores feature the complete range of Dita Sunglasses, Dita Optical Eyewear frames and Dita’s own exclusive lines of clothing, jewellery and bags. Mixed with exclusive vintage frames from other sunglass designers these stores breathe life back into the optical retail industry by giving customers an aspirational shopping destination focused on quality and experience.
