Sheinman Opticians was established in 1915 by A E Turville, one of the founders of modern
optometry and under the guidance of J S Sheinman since 1964, we have
become one of Europe's largest and most respected optometric
practices.

Our Services...
Since its foundation this practice has been involved in
clinical research. This has led to the development of techniques
and instrumentation to improve sight testing and investigation of the
eyes, vision correction and health assessment.
Our routine eye
examinations embrace the most forward thinking procedures we can offer.
These are available both privately and on the National Health Service.

Our Products...
We manufacture on the premises and can offer a fast prescription service
and respond instantly in emergencies. Having our own laboratory
(established in 1922) ensures that we can achieve a completely accurate
result. Wherever possible, we use NIKON spectacle lenses,
considered the finest ophthalmic prescription lenses available.
Sheinman is
also a specialist Contact Lens Centre. We have established large banks
of soft and gas-permeable lenses and in most cases we can fit and supply
the lenses on the same day. Disposable, frequent replacement and
mail order contact lenses are available.

New Technology...
As a research ophthalmic and optometric practice our aim is to
continually explore new and more advanced ways of bringing our patients
the best in eye-care and eyewear.
Sheinman was the first practice in the UK to install the optomap®
the scanning laser ophthalmoscope (SLO) which produces a wide-field image of the
interior of the eye.
