WHY SHOULD I USE HEARING PROTECTION?
Our ears are very sensitive and complex instruments that allow us to hear and connect with the world around us. This is why we should be sure to take care of our ears and protect them from damage.
Exposing your ears to loud noise over long periods can result in irreversible damage to your hearing. If you regularly take part in noisy activities such as motorsport, shooting or music, then hearing protection is essential.
It is also important to consider ear protection for swimming and other watersports in order to prevent water from entering the ear canal therefore avoiding potential infections.
Your Audiologist will be able to advise you on the various options available and tailor a solution based on your specific needs and intended use.
HOW MUCH DOES HEARING PROTECTION COST?
At Sheinman we offer a complete hearing protection service with prices starting from £80.00.
This is a fully-inclusive service which includes everything from the initial consultation and taking impressions of your ears, through to the delivery and fitting of a custom-made hearing protection solution.
WHAT IF I NEED EAR WAX REMOVAL?
We are committed to providing you with the same high standard of care for your ears that our patients expect from us for their eyes.
This is why we use state-of-the-art equipment to check the health of your ears prior to taking impressions and remove ear wax where required as part of this complete service.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET HEARING PROTECTION?
The process begins with an initial consultation to discuss the options available based on your hearing protection requirements.
Your Audiologist will then carry out a detailed examination of the health of your ears using a video otoscope. Ear wax removal may be recommended and performed where required.
Impressions of your ears will then be taken so that custom earpieces can be made. Your Audiologist will explain the procedure and ensure you are comfortable along the way.
Your impressions are then sent to an expert manufacturer who will produce your hearing protection solution. This can take a couple of weeks due to the customised nature of the product.
When your custom-made hearing protection is ready you will then see your Audiologist again to ensure an optimal fit and to provide any advice you may need going forward.
