Laser Refractive Surgery

Corrective Laser Eye Surgery

What Is Laser Surgery ?

Laser refractive eye surgery is an increasingly popular method of vision correction. There are many different refractive laser procedures and surgical techniques which can be used. The method chosen will depend upon your prescription, expectations and of course, budget.

Laser refractive eye surgery aims to reshape the cornea to correct any focusing problems caused by refractive error i.e long-sightedness, short sightedness or astigmatism.

Whist we do not offer consultations which advise on whether your eyes are suitable for laser refractive eye surgery. We encourage you to make an appointment to see your Optometrist to discuss your interest in laser refractive eye surgery.

Your Optometrist can offer you professional advice on your options, including, if appropriate, exploring other options for example contact lenses or intraocular lens replacement.

not suitable for all eyes

Laser refractive eye surgery is not suitable for all eyes and often is not a viable option for some high or more complex prescriptions.

In most cases your prescription will need to be stable before laser refractive eye surgery can be undertaken. Your Optometrist will be happy to discuss your personal prescription with you.

Following a discussion about your interest in laser eye surgery if you wish to find out more we can refer you directly to leading corneal eye surgeon David Gartry at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
